The Fat Cats Cometh

Posted on

So I have a confession to make. I didn’t work on the bleach shirt tutorial at all yesterday (hence the lack of post). I went to Provo with my sister and got some fabric for a project that I’ve had laying around for a few years, and some for the knitting needle case. Worry not, the tutorial will be up tomorrow.

I bought the pattern for the Fat Cat wall hanging at the Harrisburg, PA quilt show/expo ages ago. I fell in love with it because it reminded me of Allister.

The original pattern calls for a cream background. I have an aversion to whites/creams in general though. I also think it looks quite dull that way. So I decided to go with bright prints instead.

(Sorry, for the night time pics.) The cats in the original also have a giant bow. K and I decided that a collar looked better.

We added the white to the belly, since Ally has a white belly. The green of the eyes is a pretty perfect match to his eyes, which makes me happy. (There is a tail, it is just missing in that pic.)

So here are all six of the cats ready to go. I used two different black fabrics to mix it up a bit. I’m going to have some random down time this week at Leadermete, so these guys are coming with me so I can get them appliquéd on to the background squares.

Once that is done, I’m going to put some sashing and borders on. Not quite sure on those fabrics yet, one thing at a time. There are going to be matching pillows too. I’m excited to finally get this project underway after having it on the shelf for so long. I guess I should sew something for Kiko at some point too, or people might think I’m playing favorites.
